MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes announced on Friday that the team has added former NFL quarterback John Skelton to the roster. The former Arizona Cardinal pivot signed a two-year deal with the club.

Skelton (6’5″, 258 lbs.) comes to Montreal following a brilliant career South of the border. The El Paso, TX native played for the Fordham University Rams for four seasons, racking up an impressive total of 9,923 passing yards while throwing 69 touchdowns passes in 43 games. The 26-year old quarterback also rushed for 565 yards and scored 14 rushing majors. Following his brilliant collegiate career, Skelton was selected in the fifth round (155th total) by the Cardinals in the 2010 NFL Draft.

The American pivot had his best moments at the professional level with the Cardinals. In three seasons in Arizona, he played 20 games, amassing 3,707 passing yards and throwing 15 touchdown passes. In 2011, he replaced an injured Kevin Kolb, leading the team to a 5-2 record as the starter. Before joining the Alouettes, Skelton also suited up for the Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans.
